Celebrating Raoul Vaneigem
Thursday, September 3 at 2:30 PM on KPFK 90.7 FM: My guest this week is PM Press founding publisher Ramsey Kanaan, who joins me to remember, discuss, and celebrate the late Raoul Vaneigem (1934-2026), one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century. A co-founder of the influential Situationist International, he wrote dozens of books elaborating on and complicating Marx, critiquing alienation, and offering imagination and rebellion and solidarity to readers in books including his masterpiece, The Revolution of Everyday Life. That book, along with Guy Debord’s classic The Society of the Spectacle, inspired the student-worker uprisings of Paris 1968 and worldwide people’s movements. Whether a fan or new to his writing and ideas, you’ll hear me read from his work, and Ramsey Kanaan explain and contextualize it.
