Thursday, November 5 at 2:30 PM on KPFK 90.7 FM on Bibliocracy, my guest is multi-form, multi-talented writer Dave Zirin on legendary historian and activist Howard Zinn. In The People’s Historian: The Outsized Life of Howard Zinn, Zirin has written a laudatory, thoughtful, appreciative and carefully contextualized biography, an activist’s appreciation, and a history of recent US social justice engagement. Thought you knew everything about the popular and influential teacher, activist, and bestselling author of A People’s History of the United States and other groundbreaking books? Zirin’s terrific contribution to Zinn studies is offering and dramatizing a through-line which traces, indeed, Zinn’s outsized, engaged, vigorous involvement in nearly every liberation movement of the last century. Learn more about the book, politics and sports author David Zirin, and his upcoming visits to Southern California at Edge of Sports, his website.
