Nolan Higdon on the Industrial Information Media Complex
Thursday, April 3 at 2:30 PM on KPFK I welcome Dr. Nolan Higdon, a longtime media/civic literacy expert and critical media scholar, as well as activist and educator. My talk with him on what I call the “industrial information media complex” engages two recent posts from his Substack: “Elon Musk’s Data Grab is Alarming --- but the real threat is even worse” and “This isn’t the start of politics as reality TV --- It’s the End.” Higdon takes the long view, with examinations of data collection, politics, pedagogy, civic engagement, privacy and, yes, some proposals to answer what we have lived lately through extreme manifestation of it all via the Musk, Trump corporate shakedown of everyday life, real and virtual.
Check out Higdon’s Substack, where you can read the entire essays, from which he reads excerpts on the show. https://substack.com/@nolanhigdon
